Update About Terri November 19, 2001

Dear Friends of Terri:

Many of you know a few weeks ago Terri was moved back to Woodside Hospice. Her move was successful. I am delighted to relay to you, her parents have reported she is doing very well!

I spoke with Bob (Terri's dad) yesterday and he conveyed how he and Terri had been joking around with each other during their last visit.

Upon his arrival to Terri's room, Bob explained how he likes to tease Terri by announcing to her how his fatherly hug will come first, followed by his BIG kiss.
Bob chuckled as he continued to explain, "Cheryl, she never seems to mind my hug, but forget my kiss." He said that when he teases and tells her,
"Terri, get ready, now here comes my kiss, ....... she looks at him, scrunches up her face and then makes an expression which looks like she just bit into a lemon."

Bob explained, how he and Terri have always had a fun relationship so he enjoys teasing her.

A few days ago I spoke with Monsignor Malanowski. We were discussing how wonderful it would be if Michael Schiavo would allow Terri out of her room so she could attend her 41st birthday party.

Monsignor Malanowski said, " If all people were given the opportunity to visit and meet Terri, they would see what a lovely person she is!"

Monsignor explained there are days when he visits with Terri, how she sometimes appears to be distracted and into deep thought. ...... "it always amazes me, no matter how distracted she is, just as soon as I begin to pray with her she immediately focuses her eyes on me and does not utter a sound until we are finished with prayer."

Terri's party will be held on Sunday, December 12, 2004. We anticipate at least 200 friends joining us in the celebration of Terri's 41st birthday.

Talented musician and songwriter Wayne Galley will be traveling from California to sing LIVE at Terri's birthday party.

Local newspaper journalist at the St. Petersburg Times reveal their lies, biases and opinions by hiding behind an editorial written in today's article titled;
"Time To Let Terri Go" Opinion: Time to let Terri go

St. Pete Times:
There comes a point when the court system itself becomes an obstructionist force, and that point has been reached in the Terri Schiavo saga. Time and again for the past six years, state and federal courts have found that Schiavo is in a persistent vegetative state with no hope of recovery, and that Michael Schiavo, her husband, is representing her wishes in seeking to have her feeding tube removed. Yet, still there has been no resolution.

Ford Comments:
Indeed! There does comes a point when a small time local newspaper crosses the boundary and becomes an obstructionist force when they do not report the facts as they are documented in Terri's medical records. These medical records are legal documents completed and signed by licensed and trained health care professionals. Allowing the TIMES incompetent and untrained staff the authority to repeatedly report Terri Schindler is in a vegetative state is not only a lie, but is irresponsible journalism. Ms. Terri Schindler is not in a vegetative state, nor can the St. Petersburg Times provide evidence of what her present medical condition is.

St. Petersburg Times:
A large part of the blame for this unjustifiable delay rests with Gov. Jeb Bush and former House Speaker Johnnie Byrd. Days after Terri Schiavo's feeding tube was removed in October 2003, a frenzied Legislature, browbeaten by Byrd and extreme right-wing elements, passed "Terri's Law," giving the governor the discretion to reinsert the tube. It was an exertion of raw power, injecting the government into a family matter and disregarding a series of uniform court determinations. Putting matters right, a unanimous Florida Supreme Court in September found Terri's Law unconstitutional. "It was an exertion of raw power, injecting the government into a family matter and disregarding a series of uniform court determinations. Putting matters right, a unanimous Florida Supreme Court in September found Terri's Law unconstitutional."

Ford Comments:
By Florida Constitutional law, Governor Jeb Bush has the right to seek introduction and consideration of any legislation that he feels timely and appropriate before the state congress. It is something that has been done many times by every Governor that has ever been elected in the state of Florida. Since the Governor has no ability to create any law in the state, it could hardly be considered an "exertion of raw power." Maybe the St. Petersburg Times should educate itself concerning the legislative process before it suggest such an opinion. Furthermore, it is highly unlikely that any single legislator, including Johnnie Byrd, has the influence or power to force the legislature to pass any particular law.

St. Petersburg Times
At that point, Michael Schiavo should have easily obtained a court order allowing him to direct the removal of his wife's feeding tube. But that has not happened. Bush and Terri's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, are continuing to press the courts for more delays, and the courts seem to be acceding to their tactics.

Ford Comments:
I ask, where does a local newspaper get the nerve to declare that an appeal process (which is a legal due process available to every citizen) is nothing more than "pressing the courts for more delays?"

The appellate process through any and all courts in Florida, and in the United States is another right guaranteed by the constitution of the United States to every citizen, whether it is Governor Jeb Bush, or Ms. Terri Schindler.

Rather than acceding to the Schindlers' "tactics," would the St. Petersburg Times find it more appropriate for the courts to accede to George Felos's "tactic" of communicating with the comatose by peering into the "pools of strikingly beautiful but incognizant blue" of their eyes, and shouting at them, " you want to you want to die?"

St. Petersburg Times:
The Florida Supreme Court is giving Bush time to appeal its ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court. An appeal would be an irresponsible waste of taxpayer dollars. Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge George Greer has ruled that Terri Schiavo's feeding tube cannot be removed until the 2nd District Court of Appeal considers the Schindler's request for a new hearing - a process that could take months. The Schindlers are now claiming that recent statements by Pope John Paul II opposing the removal of feeding tubes for people in vegetative states would have influenced Terri Schiavo, a Catholic, and caused her to object to having her tube removed. It is a desperate claim raised solely to continue gaming the system. As long as the litigation stays alive, Terri Schiavo can be forced to continue her vegetative existence.

Ford Comments:
If the first amendment rights of a TIMES reporter were challenged and defeated, I wonder if they would consider it an "irresponsible waste of taxpayers dollars" to pursue their rights through the appellate process?
For the TIMES to purport the, "Schindlers are NOW claiming that recent statements by the Pope opposing the removal of feeding tubes for people in vegetative states would have influenced Terri Schiavo, a Catholic, and caused her to object to having her tube removed, " is hogwash!

Like any Catholic family, the Schindler's are trying to point out that the Catholic Pope's statement opposing the removal of feeding tubes is mere proof how the removal of a feeding tube is in direct violation of Terri Schindler's RIGHTS and RELIGION, because she IS baptized and a practicing Catholic!

Terri's right to freedom of religion is guaranteed by the constitution of the United States. In addition to this both Federal and State statutes clearly define freedom of religion as a retained right, i.e., a right that cannot be taken away from or acted on behalf of a Guardian, a relative, or anyone, based on a persons competency or disability.

Terri retains her right to freedom of religion regardless of her competency or her condition. If any act, whether demanded by a Guardian, requested by a family member, or even ordered by a court can be reasonably shown to be contrary to her religious beliefs, then no one can force it upon her.

Bottom line...Michael Schiavo, George Felos, and Judge George Greer have no more right to deny Terri her right to religious freedom than they do to deny the St. Petersburg their rights to freedom of Speech guaranteed by the same Constitution.

The St. Pete TIMES continues to say...... "It is a desperate claim raised solely to continue "gaming the system."

Arguing the rights for a disabled human LIFE and for the malicious attempts to KILL a disabled human LIFE via starvation and dehydration is hardly what the majority of decent citizens would refer to as "gaming the system"!
Our judicial system use to refer to this as MURDER!
The St. Pete Times displays how they promote " KILLING GAMES IN A SYSTEM" from inside of their ink wells!

St. Petersburg Times:
Michael Schiavo says he may give up the fight. Who can blame him? He has the power of the governor against him and a court system seemingly unwilling to let its years of rulings stand as a final word. When delay equals victory for the side with endless resources, the courts should recognize the ploy. It is past time for the courts to end this family's tragedy and allow Terri Schiavo the peaceful end her husband believes she would have wanted.

Ford Comments:
"Michael Schiavo may give up the fight? Who can blame him?"
What the TIMES fails to recognize is the fact that Terri has been the only one who has had to FIGHT! Fighting for her life! She has fought desperately for her life and has repeatedly recovered even after Michael Schiavo made two attempts on her life to starve her to death, while he lay nightly in bed with another woman.
So whom I ask, has truly been the one fighting?

It is past time for the St. Petersburg Times to cease in their ploy by writing lies in a public forum; attempting to convince young and old it is perfectly okay to KILL the disabled.

St. Petersburg Times you need to allow the works of GOD to deliver the peace of a happy ending!!!! You are clearly out of your league of authority and should NOW take some time to reflect in the lessons of LIFE while praying for your forgiveness at the altar of your local church.

I encourage Terri's supporters to CALL and MAIL their opinions to:

TIMES complicit in s876 violation for advocating and coercion of the minds of the public to agree and give support to killing disabled, thereby setting precedent through judicial activist "rule of the case/law" to trump the Criminal Prohibition from intentionally CAUSING another person to DIE, a Homicide, the result of which is the destruction of Constitution guaranteed Right To Life and Right to NOT be Killed protections"

No Light In Terri's Plight

To: Fight4Terri Supporters
From: Cheryl Ford RN

I ask that you please read the following words very carefully.

Schiavo's Parents Win Again In Court By DAVID SOMMER
Published: Oct 30, 2004 CLEARWATER - Terri Schiavo's parents won an indefinite ban on the removal of their daughter's feeding tube Friday, prompting their son-in- law's attorney to ponder ending their fight. ``I think we are coming very close, if we are not here already, where proceeding in the judicial system is futile,'' said George Felos, who represents Michael Schiavo in his quest for court permission to stop feeding his brain-damaged wife.

Schiavo has been fighting his in-laws for 6 1/2 years over his contention that Terri Schiavo would not want to be kept alive in a persistent vegetative state with no hope of improvement. Twice, Schiavo has won permission to remove his wife's feeding tube, only to have it reinserted as Bob and Mary Schindler used one tactic after another to keep their daughter alive.

Felos said it might be time to advise Schiavo to end his quest.
``It would appear that pursuing any remedy through the judicial system is simply a waste of time,'' Felos said. ``It is hard to see where there is any benefit in staying the course in this case.''

Folks, when considering what George Felos has said with regard to possibly "ending their quest", and attempting to make Terri's supporters think that there may be hope for Terri, please reflect upon the typical actions and behaviors of a sociopath.
It is my professional opinion that the actions described below typify the man we have all come to know.

Neither Terri Schindler Schiavo's estranged spouse and legal Guardian Michael Schiavo, or his attorney George Felos, offer any light in the way of Terri's plight and never have in 14 years.

Let us not be fooled by zealots like Michael Schiavo or George Felos who less than one week prior on, 10/26/2004 in an article written in Life News by Steven Ertelt, the following was reported:

"Governor Bush says he has received a letter from Michael Schiavo, who is living with another woman and has two children with her, saying he will attempt to remove Terri's feeding tube as soon as possible."

Profile of a Sociopath

A number of mind-manipulating cult leaders may exhibit many of the behavioral characteristics of a sociopath--an outstanding ability to charm and seduce followers. Since they appear apparently normal, they are not easily recognizable as deviant or disturbed. Although only a trained professional can make a diagnosis, it is important to be able to recognize the personality type in order to avoid further abuse. These traits also apply to a one-on-one cultic relationship.

Glibness/Superficial Charm
Language can be used without effort by them to confuse and convince their audience. Captivating storytellers that exude self-confidence, they can spin a web that intrigues others. Since they are persuasive, they have the capacity to destroy their critics verbally or emotionally.

Manipulative and Conning
They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They dominate and humiliate their victims.

Grandiose Sense of Self
Feels entitled to certain things as "their right." Craves adulation and attendance. Must be the center of attention with their own fantasies as the "spokesman for God," "enlightened," "leader of humankind," etc. Creates an us-versus-them mentality

Pathological Lying
Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and able to pass lie detector tests.

Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt
A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.

Shallow Emotions
When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion, it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their promises.

Incapacity for Love
While they talk about "God's love" they are unable to give or receive it. Since they do not believe in the genuineness of their followers' love, they are very harsh in testing it from their devotees and expect them to feel guilt for their failings. Expects unconditional surrender.

Need for Stimulation
Living on the edge, yet testing the beliefs of their followers with bizarre rules, punishments and behaviors. Verbal outbursts and physical punishments are normal.

Callousness/Lack of Empathy
Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others' feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them. Their skills are used to exploit, abuse and exert power. Since the follower cannot believe their leader would callously hurt them, they rationalize the behavior as necessary for their (or the group's) own "good" and deny the abuse. When devotees become aware of the exploitation it feels like a "spiritual rape" to them.

Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature
Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of love and approval produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. Believe they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others. The followers only see them as near perfect.

Early Behavior Problems/Juvenile Delinquency
Usually has a history of behavioral and academic difficulties, yet "gets by" by conning others. Problems in making and keeping friends; aberrant behaviors such as cruelty to people or animals, stealing, etc.

Not concerned about wrecking others' lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blame their followers or others outside their group. Blame reinforces passivity and obedience and produces guilt, shame, terror and conformity in the followers.

Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity
Totalist leaders frequently practice promiscuity, child sexual abuse, rape and sexual acting out of all sorts. This is usually kept hidden from all but the inner circle. Stringent sexual control of their followers, such as forced breakups and divorces, removal of children from parents, rules for dating, etc.

Lack of Realistic Life Plan/Parasitic Lifestyle
Tends to move around a lot or makes all encompassing promises for the future. Many groups claim as their goal world-domination or other utopian promises. Great contrast between the leader's opulent lifestyle and the followers' impoverishment. Support by gifts and donations from the followers who are pressured to give through fear and guilt. Highly sensitive to their own pain and health.

Criminal or Entrepreneurial Versatility
Changes their image and that of the group as needed to avoid prosecution and to increase income and to recruit a range of members. Is able to adapt or relocate as needed to preserve the group. Can resurface later with a new name, a new front group and a new twist on the scam.

Other Related Qualities:

Contemptuous of those who seek to understand them.
Does not perceive that anything is wrong with them.
Only rarely in difficulty with the law, but seeks out situations where their tyrannical behavior will be tolerated, condoned, or admired
Conventional appearance
Goal of enslavement of their victim(s)
Exercises despotic control over every aspect of the victim's life
Has an emotional need to justify their crimes and therefore needs their victim's affirmation (respect, gratitude and love)
Ultimate goal is the creation of a willing victim
Incapable of real human attachment to another
Unable to feel remorse or guilt
Extreme narcissism and grandiose
May state readily that their goal is to rule the world
